{"id":2997,"date":"2012-01-18T23:43:23","date_gmt":"2012-01-18T18:43:23","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/aasims.wordpress.com\/?p=2997"},"modified":"2025-04-26T00:11:20","modified_gmt":"2025-04-26T00:11:20","slug":"kamrans-baradari","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/aasimnaseem.com\/blog\/kamrans-baradari\/","title":{"rendered":"Kamran&#8217;s Baradari &#8211; Sheikhupura Pakistan"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Going from <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Lahore\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Lahore<\/a> to <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Shahdara_Bagh\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Shahdara Town<\/a> and crossing the <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Ravi_River\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Ravi river<\/a> bridge, one must turn his eyes towards a white, historical building covered with trees and crowded with many visitors; Situated at bank of the Ravi, this building is termed as <em>Kamran Ki Baradari, <\/em>the only significant architectural structure built by <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Kamran_Mirza\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Prince Kamran<\/a> exists today.<\/p>\n<p>That was April of last year when, coming back from Shahdara town, I instantly turned my car on side road leading to this\u00a0building, just to extinguish\u00a0the thrust of \u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/AasimNaseem.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/category\/about-me\/saunterer-soul\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">my saunterer\u00a0soul<\/a>;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><em><!--more--><\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">The name is derived from <em>Bara which means<\/em>\u00a0twelve and\u00a0<em>dar which means<\/em> doors; Kamran ki baradari was a twelve door building on the bank of River Ravi; The river changed its course over time, with the result that the Baradari stands not on the bank but in the waters as an island, while the gardens have deteriorated.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/lh3.googleusercontent.com\/-ibXcwNjD0dw\/TfNuoLRfB0I\/AAAAAAAAAuY\/VP-XyQZyb8k\/s640\/2011-04-03%25252016.58.58.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"640\" height=\"480\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><em>Image taken on\u00a0Apr 3, 2011, 16:30h<\/em><\/p>\n<p>It is the ostensibly the earliest known Mughal monument in Lahore, said to have been built by Prince Kamran in the 1520s. However, the pavilion more likely dates to the reign of <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Shah_Jahan\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Shah Jahan (1627-58)<\/a> as certain architectural features such as the use of cusped arches were not employed until Shah Jahan&#8217;s reign.
