When the fire of ego and vanity between two princes is quenched by razing the lives and livelihoods of a 15-year-old city’s inhabitants, the remains are called The Ruins of the City #Anjar.<\/strong><\/p>\n

I visited this city back in 2019 while on a business trip to Lebanon. I took a day off to visit the ancient places, especially Baalbek and Anjar.<\/p>\n

Anjar<\/strong> is a small city in Lebanon, famous for its old ruins. It was built in the early 700s by the Umayyad dynasty<\/strong>, one of the first Muslim empires. The city was planned in a Roman style, with streets, big gates, markets, and beautiful buildings.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

Anjar was made as a trading center, but it was never fully finished. After a short time, it was attacked and left in ruins. Today, only the broken parts of buildings, walls, and streets remain.<\/p>\n

Anjar was destroyed because it was attacked during a war. After it was built by the Umayyads in the early 700s, it became a target during a fight between the Umayyads<\/strong> and another group called the Abbasids<\/strong>. The Abbasids defeated the Umayyads and damaged the city.<\/p>\n

Because of this attack, Anjar was abandoned <\/strong>and left in ruins. People never rebuilt it, and only the broken buildings were left behind.<\/p>\n
