Tomb of Khan-e-Jahan Bahadur Jang Kokaltash – Lahore Aasim Naseem, December 10, 2010 | Read Count: 15,457May 8, 2025 Category: About Me > Saunterer Soulclick to view full map While moving on canal road Lahore, if you go towards Mugalpura underpass coming from The Mall, then you have to cross railway tracks over road; At this place if you look towards your left side, you’ll have a look over a tomb in miserablecondition. This is a tomb of Khan-e-Jahan Bahadur Jang Kokaltash. Daily thousands of people watch this tomb when they move there, but very, very few know what it is. I have been in Lahore for more than sixteen years, and hundreds of times I passed by this road. it came to my mind to see what it was, and at last I go and found a mausoleum. He is of the nobles of Mughal Emperor Aurangzeb Alamgir’s period, and the name of that noble is Khan-e-Jahan Bahadur Zafar Jang Kokaltas’h. The mausoleum is octagonal in plan with high arches on each side and stands on an octagonal platform. Its 32′ diameter dome, raised on a drum, is reminiscent more of the dome form utilized in the tomb of Anarkali than those of other nobles such as Ali Mardan Khan or Asaf Khan. This is not surprising, since Nawab Bahadur Khan, reputed to be one of Akbar’s nobles, died in 1601, which makes his tomb contemporaneous with the tomb of Anarkali, built in 1615.
