BlackBerry Application Development Tutorial (Part-1)

AasimNaseem, September 22, 2009May 16, 2025

rim-blackberry-bold-smartphoneHello, all.
I hope everything is going well. This is the 2nd day of Eid, and I’m building my system after switching back to Windows XP from Windows Vista Home Premium. Thanks to Allah, my notebook is now running smoothly. Right now I’m running FF with 5 or 6 tabs open, PC Suite for Nokia, and MS Office applications, and my system is at 409MB memory usage. In Vista, when I start my system, it jumps over 900 and takes 3 or 4 minutes to start properly. I don’t know if it was some kind of virus or something else, but Vista really sucked my system. I feel sorry for my notebook for running Vista for more than a year. I’m really sorry.

Anyhow, come back… In this section, I will describe BlackBerry application development. You will learn each and everything to start developing your BlackBerry applications. I’ll focus on basics so that anyone who is REALLY NEW to BlackBerry can get the idea to start by his/her own. So sorry for experienced ones; yes, you can help me to improve my work by your kind suggestions.

it was just an introductory note. In a later post, I will cover everything step by step. You will enjoy your development ….

Note: This post is a part of a series of my tutorials on BlackBerry application development; so far we have discussed the following.

yes you can. you need to install Visual Studio 2005 or 2008 along with Windows Mobile SDK. moreover you must have ActiveSync or Windows Mobile Device Center in order to deploy applications to a Windows Mobile device or to an emulator. i will upload a short tutorialal for you for windows mobile application in a day or two to summarize whole procedure in concise way.

Please, is there a tutorial on how to use Microsoft Visual Studio 2008 to develop web application on black berry? Or if there is an existing web application that you want to extend to work on black berry, how can this be done using Visual Studio and C# programming language.

    Thank you.

      it might be useful
      http://us.blackberry.com/developers/browserdev/eclipseplugin.jsp

      it stated
“Download the BlackBerry Web Plug-in tool based on your development environment. There’s a BlackBerry Web Plug-in for Eclipse 3.6 and for Microsoft Visual Studio 2008. Before downloading either tool, download the Sun JDK 1.6 or higher. The BlackBerry Web Plug-in is supported on Windows XP (32-bit) and Windows 7 (32-bit and 64-bit).”

kindly tell me if it helps you else i will dig something else for you.
      Regards
